We only had 2 athletes at Ironman New Zealand in Nicole Ward and Hayden Armstrong but what a great job they both did. Nicole had a strong day for a 6th place finish. Cole has just worked out a new deal with work that has her knocking her days back to 3 days a week and she also now has an assistant, she will be racing Ironman Japan so look for big thing from her in Japan in June.
Hayden Armstrong blew coaches mind by not only winning his age cat but also being the first age grouper home in 7th place overall, Hayden's dedication to program and consistency shows what is possible when the athlete takes accountability for what he is doing. Good on you Hayden your a ledge.

Congrats to Adam Holborow on his 4th place at National long course on the weekend, it was a great race for Adam, at only 21 Adam is going gangbusters. Not such a great day for the 2 tim's Berkel off the back of some nasty miles for Port and Robbins in 6th and 7th but they got through on a tough day for the both of them. Richard Hobson got a 6th 40-44. Patrick Tait- 4th 20-24 and Mike Mahady had a great race and a big PB of 4:30- well done mate.

Busselton finally dished out the day that everyone knew it was capable of. The day developed into a windy, extremely hot race. Our crew had a very toppsy turvy sort of day. Our Busselton Ironman defender Tim Berkel had a great start in the swim out 4th but was vomitting heavily by the time he hit the change tent, he rode strongly on the front all ride for a 4:34 but as soon as he hit the run the stomach problems started again and he was forced to walk out the run - still he finished and well see Tim winning his next outting I'll bet money on it. Nicole Ward, Adam Holborow and Karen McElligott, Stewart Crowley all suffered the same fate as Tim and were very sick on the bike.

Please wish our Aeromax crew the best for the coming Busselton Ironman this coming Sat. Tune into www.ironman.com for the livefeed. We have 6 pro's and 7 age cat racers. Should be some massive breakthrough performances here as well as an Ironman title defence. Will update from Busselton on Sunday.

We had 2 athletes in Florida for Worlds Hayden Armstrong. Hayden had a great day and racing to a 4:05 finish in the 25-29 cat and a fantastic 6th place. Kelly Ingham, Coached by Stew, Kelly has really developed over the past few months and had a strong race with a 5:05 finish. Great efforts.

Tim Berkel continued his run towards Busselton Ironman with a 2nd place finish. Denmarks Jimmy Johnson tore off to a big lead and a scorching 2:08 bike split and Berkel set an incredible run split of 1:14:08 to get within 40 seconds of Jimmy at the finsh. Berkel has continued to add to his run speed over the last 6 weeks and I think we can look for a blistering marathon from Tim at Busso.

We had 3 of the overall top 5 men at Forster long course. Mitch Robbins was only just pipped for the win by Dave Mathews and there was only seconds in it. Adam Holborrow got out to over a 3 min lead on the bike but was given a card for blocking, how do you get a card when leading by 3mins? apparently he was blocking the motor bike while he passed lapped competitors - you TA guys have got to be kidding!!! fair enough when someone is blocking other competitors or drafting but this call I'm sorry is pure BS, regardless Adam served his 4mins in the bin and still managed 4th place -3mins back, has to be frustrating. Tim Reed rounded out the top 5 for us with a 5th place finish after having some cramp problem in the swim that had him have to stop. Well done guys.

On other strong day for our juniors. Brad Clarke took out the 16-19 age cat at only (16). Jessie Fleming got 3rd in the 15-16 cat. Greg Hall (16) got 5th place in the 16-19 cat. Alex Hackett and Lucas Flannery had very string races and improved well. Paigey Single had a tough day day out in the opens and was flat, probably more a sign of the amount of work she has been doing training wise of late but she is putting in some hard work and will bounce back.

Following in the footsteps of his hero and mentor (Tim Berkel), 8 year old Merrick Giles had his first triathlon win at the Lennox Head under 12 triathlon. Merrick has been having a great season and has lowered his aquathon 5km time from 32 mins to 23 mins in 6 weeks and has all the adults running scared. In a crack-up twist he maintains that kicking Berkel's arse is his prime motivation - "Go woonsy"!!!

Wow what a day at Port for us. 7x top five cat finishes. Tim Berkel is starting to reach boiling point and took the race after cruising the run course with a 75min spilt and looked like he wouldn't have blown out a candle. I'd seriously hate to be racing Tim Berkel in Busselton Ironman in 4 weeks because he is dropping bombs with his form (I've never seen him look better) and anyone who is going to beat him is going to need to run very quickly. The big news of the day was that we also took 2nd overall with 21 year old Mitch Robbins who ran on Berkels shoulder for the first 8km's or so, Mitchy went on for 2nd overall in his first venture in the pro ranks -man what a future, well done mate.

We only had a small crew of 5 at the World long course champs in Perth. Kevin Fergusson achieved the impossible by winning his 4th World Title in 5 weeks, not only did he complete his goal but a scant 2 weeks after his Hawaiian Ironman win he won the Perth worlds by a staggering 22 mins.

Our juniors raced their second race of the season on Sunday. The juniors did well with SMFA (smiling faced assassin) Jessie Fleming winning the under 16 cat easily with a great run, Jessie is a great trainer and never misses a session and her improvement of late has been great - well done Jester. Greg Hall came 5th in the 16-19 age cat -which is kind of harsh when you consider Greg has only just turned 16, he had a great race and raced very strongly from the start. Alex Hackett and Lukas Flannery have also been on the improve and they both put together a very strong race in the under 16 cat.

Big day in the Lava fields for the crew, everyone got home which was great. The race got very windy and extremely hot - what you would expect of the Hawaiian Ironman I guess but from all the reports I

Gold Coast Half Ironman was run in hot, dry and windy conditions yesterday. Tim Berkel in training for his Busselton Ironman defence had a bit of a flat day on the bike but came back with the fastest run of the day in 76mins to finish in 2nd place to his of late training partner Lennox local Clayton Fettell who rode an incredible 2:07. Berkel will be back training In Lennox as of this week to train with Clayto and Simon Thompson and he is looking good for a Busso repeat.

Our North coast crew had a good day out at the annual Woolgoolga race in Coff Harbour. Paige Single won her first overall race in the opens, not bad for a 17year old. Well done also to local North Coaster Clayton Fetell for the winning the open mens. Jessie Fleming won the 16-19 agr cat. Matt and Nat Lamont came 2nd in their cats respectively and Shane Flannery and Leonie Cook both won their Age Cats as well. It's a great race in Coffs with a great atmosphere. Great races were also had by Greg Hall and Alex Hackett.

Congrats to Tim Berkel and Mitch Robbins doing a 1-2 at Port Douglas Long Course last weekend. Berkel, Brian Fuller and Matt White dominated up front on the bike, with Berkel taking control during the run to win by 12 minutes. Mitchy Robbins ran through the field to come all the way through to 2nd place. The race was run in very hot, windy conditions. Well done fella's.

Just an update on Kevin, he actually won the ITU Aquathon Wolrd title as well as the Olympic distance championships in the 50-54 cat, making him a dual World Champ. As if that wasn't enough he went out on the Sunday in the sprintman and finshed 5th overall -blitzing the 50-54 age cat in the process. What a weapon. Apologies for missing the obvious and congrats on a fab result.

Big congrats to Kevin who easily ran away with the World Title at the ITU Olympic distance championships in the 50-54 cat. Kevin is also racing the Hawaii Ironman World championships in 5 weeks and then the ITU World long course championships in Perth a few weeks after that. The ulimate goal would be to win all 3 which would be amazing and not entirely out of the picture for someone like Kevin, well done.
