TIM REED COACHING

While I was studying to become a PDHPE teacher I started playing around with triathlon to keep the weight off and became hugely passionate about exercise physiology and more specifically, the best methods for training endurance athletes. From there using myself as a test subject I experimented with different coaches, training methods and self coaching while continually studying and learning any new data that has implications for promoting healthy, time efficient ways to get endurance athletes performing at their best. I take a lot of pride in continuing to do my best to stay up to date with the science behind improving athletic performance.
I strongly advocate that training should be time efficient and enjoyable hence for most athletes my primary goal is to get their best possible performance with the most time efficient use of available training time. While it is not always possible to make every session enjoyable I do my best to ensure that there is variety to keep things interesting. I see many coaches and athletes subscribe to a lot of training that simply takes up a lot of extra time with very little benefit. Especially for those that are busy with work, family commitments or other interests I understand that you may not have a lot of time and hence need to make every session really count towards your goals. I make sure that the weekly training program fits within your realistic time allocation.
As an athlete I have worked with a range of coaches and in the last few years worked with coaching genius, Grant Giles (www.aeromaxteam.com) who continues to support my training. Through Grant’s and my own coaching I was able to coach my rather untalented self to win my age group at the Australian Long Course Triathlon Championships, placing 2nd at the Hawaii Ironman World Championships in the same age category and since turning professional have had the immense satisfaction of seeing my consistently smart training pay off with numerous professional podium finishes.
I have spent time racing professionally in Spain and the United States where I have been able to question and learn from some of the world’s best international athletes and coaches. Now that I’m racing professionally full time I have a lot of time to focus on the athletes I coach providing a lot of online and phone support to adjust programs, boost motivation and stay in touch with how things are going.
I coach a wide range of abilities in both running and triathlon however the primary principles behind my coaching do not change and I'm proud to say that all my athletes have seen great improvement, with no serious injuries and most importantly they seem to be having a good time along the way.
Compared to what is currently offered in online coaching I firmly believe that the service I offer is of excellent value. My coaching service includes:
- - A genuine interest in how my athletes are going as well as thoroughly enjoying it when my athletes have a good time and achieve their goals.
- - Regular email contact.
- - 24 hr phone contact if there is any problem or misunderstanding with any session.
- - Core stability, strength and flexibility sessions included within the training program
- - Weekly training program adjusted to realistically fit in your work/life schedule.
- - Dietary review and recommendations.
If you have any interest please contact me with any questions on the contact tab and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
