Ironman Australia report
Firstly I have to apologise for going so long without updating the news section. Hectic isn't a good enough description of the last 4 weeks, also our website is about to have a major overhaul so stay tuned for that.
So Ironman Australia was a day of mixed fortune for us. As you know by now Tim did not win, simply put there was a split in the swim that left Tim high and dry 90 seconds back after the swim. That gap grew to a 7min cavern on the bike which often happens when you miss the front group - it's hard to make time alone. Still he took off on the marathon starting with a 7 mins deficit to make up and by about 14km's that was down to under 5 mins - possibly a little too fast and that had Tim crack heavily at about 28km's - as always a gutsy effort that left Tim in 6th even after struggling to run.
Adam Holborow had a great day racing very smartly - he was running gangbusters on the run but also fell victim to a bonk by going for it on the run - it's better to have a go and Im glad and proud that these blokes do. Adam still managed a major PB of 8:48 and 7th place pro so his developement has gone gangbusters this season on the back of his 4 place Australian Long course champs race.
Our overall group at Port was a lot smaller this year due to the amount of racing that we have seen this year. Another highlight was Damien Davis (juggs) who qualified for Hawaii, big PB's by Peter Murphy, Patrick Tait, Mark Booth. Strong days again by Mike Mahady, Richard Hobson, Michele Avaro. Once again Im stoked to say that we didn't have one DNF - there were a few major mishaps as well so always pleasing to get everyone home.
Well done.
