I have to make mention here of a mate of mine Phil Giles (no relation) Who literally did sweet bugger all for this race, I was talking to his wife Emma who said Phil pulled out some old programs and just did a few key sessions, he then turns around and bangs out an 11th place overall finish. I coached Phil years ago and I have to say that I still maintain that Phil is one of the most gifted aerobic athletes I have ever seen, If he ever got serious, god help everyone. Good work Philithy.

Martin Barnes had a great day for a 3rd place in the 25-29's and Bec Eveligh had a strong day but unsually for her had a few problems on the run, her result was still good enough for 5th overall and 1st in the 30-34 age cat, Bec has had a stella season and congrats to you Bec. Local bike shop owner Craig Gibson suprised me when he said he wanted to do Ironman because he has a very hecti work life, His whole body shape changed during his prep and he went an 11:16 for his forst Ironman, what a great result.

Paddy Tait had another strong day and he never stops smiling when out there and I reckon he was one of the few who was. Jenna Chiffey had another strong day in what was a hard day for a small person. Stu Cameron didn't have the day he wanted but the learning curve is well in place and it's always a big leap to Ironman intially. Another big call out to Tony Camelleri who lost family the week of the race which is never easy so well done Tony, hats off to you mate.
