Tim and Mitchy on the run leading together

Wow what a day at Port for us. 7x top five cat finishes. Tim Berkel is starting to reach boiling point and took the race after cruising the run course with a 75min spilt and looked like he wouldn't have blown out a candle. I'd seriously hate to be racing Tim Berkel in Busselton Ironman in 4 weeks because he is dropping bombs with his form (I've never seen him look better) and anyone who is going to beat him is going to need to run very quickly. The big news of the day was that we also took 2nd overall with 21 year old Mitch Robbins who ran on Berkels shoulder for the first 8km's or so, Mitchy went on for 2nd overall in his first venture in the pro ranks -man what a future, well done mate.

Nicole Ward got 2nd overall and a strong race after Hawaii only a few weeks back - she did struggle with some heavy stomach upset but still managed the fastest run of the day and is looking good for a Busselton Ironman challenge. Bern Ward improved once again going 2nd place in the 40-44 cat and his consistency has been great so far this year. Sam Turley stepped up with his first podium in the 25-29 cat for 3rd and a top 20 overall, Sam has improved massively and has taken 10 mins off his half swim time alone and it won't be long before Sam starts winning 25-29.

My good mate Damien (Juggz) Davis got a 4th in the 40-44 cat with little leadup - good job old son. Laurent Doyen had a strong day out with a 4:51 before Laurent goes travelling for a few months, well done.

Our own Aeromax Coach Stewart Crowley went a 5:09 in a come back race and Stewy is doing Busselton Ironman as well and this was a training race, good job. Jason Mann pbed on his way to Busselton Ironman also, well done. Mark Booth is also racing Busso and has had a pretty hard year of it living in sub zero in Bathurst but raced Port anyway going a 6:13 on very limited training the last few months.

Karen McElligott had a tough day on the run with foot problems but you'd never know it with Kaz because she never stops smiling, running around the course asking how everyone else is going - what a trooper, and a strong race despite the discomfort for 5th place in the 40-44 cat. Well done.

We are really enjoying things at the moment as all of our devlopment athletes both Pro and Age Group are doing very well.
